Movie Review: Nacho Libre

Starring Jack Black, and a bunch of other people we've never heard of, but have been on a lot of Latin soap operas:

Jack Black stars as Brother Ignacio, a friar who cooks at a Catholic ophanage and dreams of being significant. Ignacio discovers luche libre wrestling, transforms into Nacho Libre, a masked stud muffin, and trains to become the biggest star in the squared circle.

This movie has a bunch of my favorite things: wrestling, Catholicism, Jack Black, and the occassional well-placed fart joke. The nice thing about this movie is that Black makes Nacho so likable- balancing his devotion to God and the love of the orphans with the desire for greatness, as well as acceptance of his lot in life that the hot nun he crushes for can never be his, due to the fact that both take their vows so seriously. The writing and the acting are really good, and Nacho has become one of my favorite movies of 2006.
